Train Truck Accident Leaves Two Dead

A father and son were killed Wednesday morning when their pick-up truck was struck by a freight train in Huntington.

The Huntington County Coroner says 44-year old Wally Bowers and his son, 22-year old Nathan Bowers died in the crash.

The Norfolk-Southern train slammed into the pick-up truck at its crossing on Hitzfield Street shortly after 11, instantly killing the father and son.

NewsCenter producer Nicole Hahn on the scene says, only fragments remain of the pick-up. The eastbound CSX train has since continued its trip.

The small unguarded crossing is west of downtown Huntington.
