Trains kill 2 in Palm Beach County

Authorities are investigating two fatal train crashes that occurred within a couple of hours of each other in Palm Beach County.

The incidents happened Wednesday night in Boynton Beach and suburban Lake Worth.

Fire Rescue found the man lying east of the railroad tracks, just north of Fifth Avenue. Florida East Coast Railway is conducting an investigation.

The man had no identification.

The second crash occurred about 9 p.m.when a southbound Tri-Rail train struck a person south of the Lake Worth station, Tri-Rail spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold said.

Thirty-five passengers on board waited until just before midnight for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to conduct its investigation before the train resumed its route.
